After two days of training on this sick course I ended up with 2 blue feet and heels. I ended up short on a tripple jump. The qualification didn’t go as I wanted. I messed up in the first quali and landed to heavy on my blue heels in the second run what I couldn’t manage so I fell. Non the less I ended up 13th one spot out of the finals. The whole event was amaizing!! We saw some snowscooters flipping and Horgomo’s triple flip Sick! After the Monster party on top of Aspen it was time to head to Holland again.

After the second day of training Bell give’s a recap of the event. Follow the quali’s tomorrow live @ www.espn3.com from 11.30 – 13.00 Colorado time so that’s 19.30 Euro time.

The world championships were held in La Molina Spain. We drove from Holland to Argeles sur mer and than the next day to Barcelona. It was 18 degrees celcius and sunny so we didn’t have the feeling that we were going snowboarding at all! Driving up to La Molina that feeling only got stronger as everything around us stayed green. Alle the slopes were green except the venues of the world championships. Big up for the crew that made the white course in the green feeld.

The training started ok for me but after a couple of runs I started making a lot of mistakes and it wasn’t going the way I wanted The next day I wasn’t planning on doing the same so I got my act together and rode a good first quali run. In my second run I fell but I still ended up top 16 with my first time.

Racing day… I was stoked to ride in the 3rd womens heat of the day. Too bad the girl next to me crashed in the start section and I had to ride around her so I was chasing numbers 1 and 2 the whole course. I tride to pull an all or nothing on the before last jump but it ended up in a noting.

All with all I came in 11th at the world championships which is my best preformance yet at this event! I’m happy and ready to go to the Xgames in Aspen!

More photos from the World Championships here.

Bell just got the invite for the winter X Games in Aspen Colorado! The Games are held from the 26th of January til the 30th. Bell wil ride qualifications on the 28th and finals on the 29th. We’ll keep you all updated from Aspen but first she’s off to the World Championships in La Molina. So these 2 weeks are going to be exciting!!

After beeing home for 6 hours we flew from Amsterdam up to Denver. We drove to Aspen where we could stay in the limelight hotel thanx to Anneke (Cleve’s mom). Cleve showed us some nice and hidden tracks trough Aspen Highlands and Snowmass. All the shreddin made us very hungry luckely Cleve’s parents were in the kitchen all day preparing a real thanksgiving dinner for us. We got introduced tot sweet potatoes with marsmellows.

The next day we drove to Telluride. We stayed in a sweet hotel and the course looked awesome. Official training went realy well and Cleve and I were ready to race. During the quali it was snowing so it was important to ride a fast first run. Cleve had a couple of mistakes but still got in the top 32. I rode a nice first run, made a big mistake but was 8th after the first run. After the second run 3 people rode faster than Cleve and he ended up 34th witch was a bummer! I ended up 9th and was stoked to ride the finales.

In the finales I had a bad start and I couldn’t make up for it during my run. I was a bit disappointed but ending up 9th in the World Cup was my best achievement yet. I won prize money for the first time with SBX so we headed up to the bar to spend some but not till after the World Cup team event. As I’m the only female Dutch rider I teamed up with Italy. We were a good combination because we made it into the big finals! We didn’t make it on the podium but we raced good and ended up 4th!

Now we’re in Klosters spending X-mass. Merry X-mas to you all!

A lot has happened since the last time we posted on our website. We’ll be updating the website more frequent now the winter has started. A short recap over what we’ve been up to the last 2 months.

Britt was still recovering from her knee injury and in stead of training on the snow in the alps she was training with a motocross trainer in Holland to get so strong as possible. At the moment she’s making her first turns again in Switzerland!

Bell has been on training camps in Saas Fee and Hintertux where the snowboarding went super. The last training camp she got really ill and ended up in the Intensive Care in Innsbruck. After 5 days in the hospital she could go home with her mom and Britt who drove over to Innsbruck. Because of the gravity of the situation we had to run a lot of tests back in Belgium. With some answers and Bell feeling ok again she and Frank (coach) decided to go to the first World Cup in Lech. Not particularly for racing in the world cup but for training and getting some confidence back. Well that’s just what happened because she ended up competing in both world cups and qualifying for both finals too. She ended up 16th and 12th what an outstanding performance is first of all and for sure giving to whole situation.
At het moment she’s on her way to Telluride for the 3rd world cup of the season.

We’ll keep you posted!

We havn’t been in Latvia for that long but it has been a long roadtrip till the end of the season. The first stop was (900km) Davos where we did some sweet freeriding. A short (200km) drive later we were in Valemalenco for one of the last World Cups of the season.

We both missed the finals and took places 19 and 22. Britt crashed hard and had to take it easy. The whole team decided to go to a FIS race in Val Thorens (850 km). Bell took 9th place due to an early disqualification of a russian girl…

At the World Cup Finals in La Molina Pirynees (850km) Bell managed to ride top 16.In the final heat she was up against Olympic Champion Maelle Ricker and current World Champion Helene Olafsen and ended up 15th (seasons best).

After we dropped our coach off at Barcelona airport we rented bikes and biked our way though Barcelona. Cleve, our teammate, was an exellent guide!

Then it was off to Isola 2000 (1000km) for 2 Europa Cups. Going from a nice temperature in Barcelona to rain in the mountains was a bit of a dissapointment… Never the less Bell took a 2nd place in the Europa Cup. Now it was off to a boardtest for a Wintersport magazine in Alpe d’huez (300km). A nice short ride….NOT After all the long trips we made this one took more than 5 hours on tiny roads. Nice to know is that Cleve gets carsick after 10 minutes on these roads ;)

The boardtest was awesome, we had a super nice crew and a lot of next seasons boards surprised us! We had some nice freeriding action. We finished it off by riding a sick steep couloir. While the rest of the team went back to Holland we drove to Davos (700km) for some chilling time with our mom and sister. A lot of sunshine and some skiing action later we drove back to Les2Alps (700km) for the Belgian Open. A big appartment with 11 friends, a big 25th bday party, a super nice event where we put down some dutch podiums!! Bell won the sbx (beating 99% of the guys too!) and won the Most impressive Dutchie Award!

Then the last 1000km home…

We arrived in Cesis a little town about 2 hours drive from the capital Riga. When we got there it was a culture shock. A small town, everything is grey and looked old. A lot of buildings have the windows and doors blocked, it feels a bit scary walking arround.

No worries the next day we could do some training… so we thought. The little hill opens on weekdays at 15.00 or not at all. Cesis by day is a bit friendlier, it has an medieval castle and a lot of little shops.

It was finally time to snowboard… The little hill is probably as big as the indoor hall in Landgraaf but a bit wider. The cross looked good for the snowconditions.

We had two competitions. The first comp we rode the first and second quali time Kadri the estonian girl who we know from the world cup took third. After that we knew that it would be us three competing for the podium. The other girls were good, we were better.

Finals: Kadri took the lead, Bell fell, overshooting a step-up jump and Britt ended up chasing. Result: A second and forth place.

When we got the results Britt saw that she only had 48 fis points (you need an averidge of 50 to start world cup), so the pressure was on for the next day. The maximum points you could win in this race was 70 and second 56, so with a win a world cup start was garanteed.

Next day Next race and time to win some points.

First heat Bell and Kadri and Britt was in the second heat. Bell raced tactical to spot where we could take the win. Bell informed me what to do… Finals: Kadri took the lead, Bell made sure I could pass and blocked the other girl, I did what Bell told me and overtook her in the last part.

Result: Britt got her points so a victory (and a little party) for Berghuis sistas

The next day we did some start training and Toms (awsome guy from latvia) would go with us to Riga and show us arround. Toms and his girlfriend let us stay in their home. We went to the latvian olympic trainingcenter, made sushi and had a lot of fun!!

Thanx Toms and Laura for the great time.

Olympische Spelen te zien bij Nederland 1 HDToday, the 12th of Febuary 2010 the Olympic Games start in Vancouver Canada. Sadly we’re not in Vancouver at the moment because we didn’t make the qualifications. Exactly one year ago (on the date) we had an Olympic test event in Vancouver. That was the event where it went wrong for Bell. She broke her upper arm and wrist during the competition.

So today is a pretty weird day; happy that we’re fit and healthy, sad that we’re not representing our country in Vancouver.

Now we’re making our living room ready for some historic TV moments.

We’ll keep you updated during the games.

After riding some massive powder in Davos we planned to go to Norway. We’ve never been there so we were pretty stoked. We flew from Munic to Oslo and took the train to Kongsberg to ride 2 Europa Cups.
Once there we met up with two other Dutch riders who rode al the way from Holland to Kongsberg by car. The next day it was training day. The course was super nice, the organization fluent, a lot of good riders at the start and we felt fast. This was confirmed during the qualification. Bell got the 3rd quali time and Britt the 12th. We started the heats and Britt stranded in the first but Bell advanced into the next round. She didn’t make the big finals and with passing somebody at the finish line she came in 7th and Britt ended up 13th.
The next day we had an other chance to ride in the finals. Bell won the small final and ended up 5th while Britt ended up 11th. In the middle of the night we took the bus to Oslo and then back to Munic where we visited the ISPO a big tradeshow for wintersports.

We had a super nice time in Kongsberg and want to thank the organization for these nice competitions!
