Start of July was the start of the new season! Two training weeks in one of our favourite places in the Alps. Les2Alps is the perfect place to kick off the training on and off the snow. Snowboarding till one o’clock and bike riding / core training in the afternoon. The snow / park conditions were great!
With Britt not able to snowboard yet, it meant a double portion of bike riding for her. In the morning road biking and in the afternoon the rest joined in for some mountain biking. We also went downhill biking with the whole team! That’s another sport we could get addicted to…

Getting injured means recovery and a lot of physical training. With new bikes from Cube we could start to accumulate kilometres. Off and on the snow we set our goals high as we prepared ourselves for Alpe D’HuZes. Alpe D’HuZes is a big charity event against cancer on the famous cycling mountain Alpe d’Huez.

1300 cyclists in 150 teams riding the 21 U-turns, 13,4km with an average of 13% and not 1 but up to 9 times in one day!

The whole Sunweb Snowboard Team and Friends joined forces and as team Carpe Diem we wanted and still want to raise money for KWF cancer foundation.

With an average of 90 minutes per ascent Bell managed to climb the mountain 5 times. The last time together with coach Frank Germann who also climbed Alpe d’Hues 5 times!

Team Carpe Diem managed to climb up 56 times!! Every member of our team fought and overwon Alpe D’Huez more than once! RESPECT!

You can still DONATE  and help us raise money for people that are fighting against this disease every day!

Three weeks after my crash in Vancouver, my arm is getting better every day. The specialists here checked my wrist, upper arm and took out the staples. Last week they took off the cast on my wrist and gave me a brace so I can move my arm better.

Britt unfortunately had to undergo knee surgery twice…

First both sides meniscus and then an ACL reconstruction. The ACL reconstruction was last week so her knee is still really sore and swollen.

Because of all our injuries and motivation in our sport, we were invited on a Holland Sport. This TV-show about sports has a little part dedicated to injured athletes so guess where we came in… It was fun to do and we hope we’ll be back on the show next season but not in the injury part.

Talking about being back next year… I wanted to show the massive course in Vancouver. You had to ride this course full, to make all the landings of the jumps. It was a nice start with some Wu-tangs and a big drop down to the first bank. The banks were big and you had to double all the rollers because the speed in this course was high.

My run was actually really good until my crash on the last jump. I slid through the finish and with that time I still ended in the finals after the first run…

The little movie is filmed from the big screen and near the end it goes black. At that moment the power went down on the whole mountain. When I crashed on the last jump, the finish bow was deflating and I just managed to slide under it. With all that happening it was a pretty weird crash.
